No. 11 Washington Shuts Out New Mexico, Charlotte

PHOENIX – Two dominant performances in the circle helped No. 11 Washington to a pair of shutouts as they took down New Mexico 3-0 and Charlotte 10-0 Saturday at the Grand Canyon Classic. The Dawgs improve to 17-3 on the season.
NEW MEXICO 0, #11 WASHINGTON 3
Kelley Lynch (4-1) earned her fourth win of the season, and second in as many days. Lynch struck out eight Lobos along the way.
The Husky bats were quite through the first three innings, until Baylee Klingler broke up the perfect game bid in the fourth with a single to the outfield. Madison Huskey was able to reach on an error. However, the Washington offense was unable to bring a run across.
Alana Johnson opened the bottom of the fifth with a single through the left side and stole second a few pitches later. SilentRain Espinoza drove in Hobson with a single of her own to break the scoreless tie.
Brooklyn Carter came in to pinch run for Espinoza who stole second and advanced to third on a shallow pop out. Following an Avery Hobson walk to put runners at the corner, both Carter and Hobson were able to come around and score on a pair of errors for the 3-0 advantage for the Dawgs.

5th: Espinoza singled to left center, RBI; A. Johnson scored.
5th: Hobson advanced to second on an error, advanced to third on an error; Carter scored.
#11 WASHINGTON 10, CHARLOTTE 0 (5 inn.)
Ruby Meylan (8-0) earned her eighth win of the season, tossing her seventh complete game. Meylan fanned seven and allowed only one hit.
Washington jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two with the help of doubles from Kelley Lynch and Sydney Stewart.
Charlotte's lone hit came in the second inning.
Alana Johnson's three-run home run highlighted the third inning to extend Washington's lead to six.
With two outs in the fourth, Madison Huskey and Sami Reynolds reached to bring up Lynch who's single scored in the seventh run of the game.
Runners at the corners and one out for pinch-hitter Jadelyn Allchin as she sent a double to right center to put the run-rule into effect at 9-0 in the fifth. Baylee Klingler added an insurance run to bring the score to its eventual final of 10-0.

2nd: Fiedler single to left center, RBI; Stewart scored.
2nd: Hobson bunt single, advanced to second on the throw; Fiedler advanced to third, scored on the throw.

4th: Lynch singled to right center, RBI; Reynolds advanced to third; Huskey scored.
5th: Allchin doubled, 2 RBI, Fiedler scored; Carter scored.
5th: Klingler doubled to right center, RBI; Allchin scored.
