Five Huskies Drafted As Qualls Taken By Eagles
April 29, 2017 | Football
Washington had a total of five players selected in the 2017 NFL Draft as defensive lineman Elijah Qualls was taken by the Eagles in the sixth round Saturday.
On Thursday, Cincinnati selected John Ross with the ninth overall pick, and on Friday, three members of the UW secondary went in the first half of the second round: Kevin King (33rd overall, to Green Bay), Budda Baker (36th to Arizona) and Sidney Jones (43rd to Philadelphia).
Washington's five drafted players marked the Huskies' highest total since the 2001 draft, when five players were also selected.
Qualls, from Petaluma, Calif., played in 38 games during his UW career, totalling 77 tackles and seven sacks. He was a stalwart on a Husky defense that topped the Pac-12 in each of his last two seasons, starting 11 games in 2016 and eight in 2015. He was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection as a redshirt-junior last fall and was named second-team All-America by FOX Sports. He'll join Jones as a Eagles rookie this year.
