OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --ย USA Softball announced Monday the complete coaching staff for the USA Softball Women's National Team and Washington head coach, Heather Tarr's name was on that list. Tarr and four other current NCAA collegiate coaches were selected from the USA Softball WNT Coaching Pool and will lead the members of the 2017 Women's National Team as they compete around the country this summer.ย
"I am honored to be a part of the USA national team coaching staff," said Tarr.ย "I can't wait to collaborate with Coach Eriksen, the staff, and work with the women on this team."
Ken Eriksen, (Tampa, Fla/Head Coach at South Florida) will lead the staff as head coach for the seventh consecutive season. Also joining the staff are assistant coachesย Howard Dobson (Baton Rouge, La./Assistant Coach at LSU), Tairia Flowers (Tucson, Ariz./Head Coach at CSUN), John Rittman (Valencia, Calif./Associate Head Coach at Kansas).
Tarr will join a staff that most recently led the U.S. to victory when they won the gold at last year's WBSC Women's World Championship.ย
She will also be able to coach her very own athlete, Ali Aguilar, who is on the 2017 USA Softball WNT roster after being on the Elite team last summer. During the 2016 World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Women's World Softball Championship in July, Aguilar went 2 for 3 and drove in the game's first run in the first inning as the USA Women's National Team jumped out to a 4-0 lead and downed Japan, 7-3, in the gold medal game.
Also representing USA is Washington freshman Sis Bates, who was named to the 2017 Junior Women's National Team in January.ย
