SEATTLE – Washington women's tennis announced the signing of Sedona Gallagher on Friday, set to join the Huskies in the 2018-19 season.
"We are so excited that Sedona decided to become a Husky and is graduating early to join us next fall," Washington head coach Robin Stephenson said. "I have been so impressed with her throughout the recruiting process and I know she will add so much to the program immediately."
Gallagher will graduate from Odyssey Charter High School in 2018. She has excelled in tennis, maintaining a top-10 ranking in every age division. Currently, she is No. 7 in the nation and is a blue-chip recruit. She won a national title, called a gold ball, in doubles and has a silver and two bronze balls in singles. This past summer, she traveled with Team USA.
Academically, Gallagher has excelled as well. If she maintains her current GPA of 4.8, she will be the valedictorian when she graduates. In addition to playing tennis, she also lettered in track and cross country. Gallagher is an only child and her parents are Tammy and EJ.
"She is extremely hard working and wants to excel in everything she does," Stephenson said. "She has a ton of pride in everything UW already, and I have no doubt that she will have a huge part in taking the team to new heights. We can't wait to welcome her to the Husky family!"
