
Fultz Named to USBWA Midseason Lists for Oscar Robertson Trophy and Wayman Tisdale Award

ST. LOUIS – University of Washington freshman Markelle Fultz has been named to the midseason watch lists for both the Oscar Robertson Trophy, which recognizes the National Player of the Year, and the Wayman Tisdale Award, given to the Freshman of the Year, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) announced on Monday.
Fultz is one of six freshmen to earn a spot on both of the midseason lists and one of four from the Pac-12 Conference. He is also on watchlists for the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year, the John Wooden Award and the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year.
The freshman out of Upper Marlboro, Md., is currently leading the Pac-12 in scoring at 23.4 points per game which also the best by a freshman in the NCAA and ranks fourth overall nationally. He's also averaging 6.1 assists and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 41.7 percent from long distance.
Additionally, Fultz has led the team in points and assists in 12 games this season and has led in points, rebounds and assists in six of UW's 19 games.
Fultz has reached 30 points in five games this season and is currently on a three-game 30-point streak, which is the longest by a UW player under Lorenzo Romar. His five 30-point games are tied for the fifth most by any player in Husky history.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy will be presented at a press conference on March 31 at the Final Four in Phoenix, Ariz. The presentation of the Wayman Tisdale Award is to be announced.
