SEATTLEย โ University of Washington head softball coach Heather Tarr has finalized her coaching staff, as former assistant Lance Glasoe will return as assistant coach, Tarr announced Monday. Glasoe spent six years as the Huskies' pitching coach before being named head softball coach at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. Glasoe coached the Huskies' two most successful pitchers, All-Americans Danielle Lawrie and Kaitlin Inglesby, and was an integral part in Washington's 2009 national championship team.
"We are thrilled to bring Lance back home to contribute in bigger ways," Tarr said. "He embodies the Husky Softball way: loyalty, team-first, hard work and toughness. The first time he entered our program we won a national championship. Now he's back, ready to execute and help us reach the next level as a program, and that is to win more championships."
During his 2008-2014 tenure as Huskies' pitching coach, Glasoe mentored Lawrie, Inglesby and Brianna Walker into Women's College World Series pitchers. The UW coaching staff earned National Coaching Staff of the Year honors during the 2009 season.
"Having Glasoe back will be a huge asset to the University of Washington softball team, Lawrie said. He truly knows how to connect with his athletes. I trusted him with my last two years at UW right away, and he was able to help take my game to another level."
"Along with my family, I am excited to be given this opportunity by Coach Tarr and the University of Washington," Glasoe said. "I am excited to help this program get back to the WCWS. Coach Tarr has been a great mentor to me and I look forward to this opportunity to learn from her as well as work with some of the best student-athletes in the country."
Glasoe finishes his head coaching tenure at PLU with a career record of 45-33 over two seasons.
"We care about our coaches and establishing an opportunity for them to get to the next level in their careers," Tarr said. "When they come back, it's a sign that they're even more prepared to contribute to what we are all about. Lance is back, better, and ready to contribute to our program with more experience."
Prior to his time at University of Washington, Glasoe served as an assistant coach at PLU under former Lute head coach Rick Noren from 2006-08. Glasoe previously had softball head coaching stints at Sumner and Bonney Lake High Schools. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Technology Education from Western Washington University in 1995.
Glasoe and his wife, Kara, live in Puyallup with their two daughters, Maddy and Macie.
