Matt Ludwig, the strength and conditioning coach for the Men's and Women's Basketball and Men's Golf teams since spring of 2008 actually joined the Husky Athletic Staff in 2005. From 2005-2008, Coach Ludwig directed the strength and conditioning for Gymnastics, Track and Field, Cross Country, and assisted with the Football program.
In his role, Ludwig work's directly with the UW Basketball and Golf teams throughout the year, overseeing the team's strength and conditioning programs both in and out of season.
Ludwig came to the UW from WSU, where he served as assistant strength and conditioning coach under Rob Oviatt, where he assisted the sports performance development of the football program from 2001 to 2005. During his four seasons, he helped WSU to three back to back 10 win seasons and 3 bowl appearances.
Ludwig also directed the strength and conditioning at WSU for Women's Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Women's Rowing, Baseball, Men's and Women's Golf, and trained the Throwers for track and field. Coach Ludwig also taught undergraduate course work in strength training program design his last two years and was responsible as a co director for the strength and conditioning minor program.
Prior to his time at WSU, Ludwig was an intern for the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, assisting with strength training and conditioning for Men's and Women' Judo, Wrestling, Cycling, Taekwondo, gymnastics, and volleyball.
Ludwig played football for Purdue University from 1996 through 1999, and graduated in 2000, is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association, and in First Aid. Matt Ludwig and his wife Tessa have three children Matt, Alivia, and Nick.
