UW Partners With Tagboard to Create #MyGoHuskies

Dec. 20, 2012

SEATTLE - University of Washington officials announced Wednesday the introduction of #MyGoHuskies, a new fan engagement feature developed in partnership with Seattle-area social media innovators, Tagboard. The initiative will allow fans using the hashtag #MyGoHuskies in their social media channels to share their Husky Athletics experiences with GoHuskies.com. Using Tagboard-powered technology, UW will feature select fan submissions on GoHuskies.com to present a comprehensive view of games and other athletic touchpoints.

"Tagboard is one of Seattle's many technological pioneers, and we're excited to take the next step with them and develop this new offering for our fans," Daniel Hour, manager of new media and recruiting services said. "Husky Nation does such a great job of creating their own content around Husky events, that we decided to expand our fan's digital presence. Our hope is that #MyGoHuskies will elevate our fan's self-created content from the comment section and into the front-page feature."

Users responding to #MyGoHuskies fan assignments through their Twitter, Facebook or Instagram accounts will have the opportunity to win UW prize packages and have their content featured in various GoHuskies channels.

After development stages in the summer of 2012, UW officials first partnered with Tagboard in October to aggregate social conversation. GoHuskies.com was the first official athletic website to feature the technology.
