Oct. 25, 2012
SEATTLE - University of Washington student-athletes graduate at a rate that ranks among the best in the nation according to figures released today by the NCAA. The single-year Graduation Success Rate for student-athletes who began college in 2005 is 81 percent. That mark ties for third-best among Pac-12 schools. The NCAA also registered a collective 81 percent, just one off their highest mark to date. "I am pleased to see our graduation rates remain high," Scott Woodward, UW's director of athletics said. "These numbers are a result of our student-athletes and coaches balancing a powerful commitment to the academic mission of the university with a desire for excellence in sport." The Husky men's and women's golf programs both registered a perfect 100 percent, while UW's football program charted a 74 percent rate, which ranks second in the Pac-12 conference. The Husky women's rowing program registered at 94 percent, while both the women's basketball and volleyball programs charted a 92 percent rate, and Husky women's soccer finished at 90 percent.
