Oct. 25, 2011
SEATTLE - University of Washington student-athletes graduate at a rate that ranks among the best in the nation according to figures released today by the NCAA. The single-year Graduation Success Rate for student-athletes who began college in 2004 is 83 percent. That mark ties for second-best among Pac-12 schools, and ties for third among all public institutions on the west coast. The NCAA registered their highest overall GSR ever, at 82 percent.
"Our high graduation rates are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes here at the University of Washington, and of the academic success structure we have in place," Scott Woodward, UW's director of athletics said. "I am excited about our success. We will continue to place a strong commitment to the academic mission of the university."
The Husky men's and women's golf programs both registered a perfect 100 percent, while UW's football program charted a 76 percent rate, which ranks second in the Pac-12 conference. The Husky women's basketball program registered a 93 percent, also ranking second in the Pac-12.
