UW Welcomes Gregg Bell as Director of Writing
Sept. 2, 2010
SEATTLE - The University of Washington announced the addition of veteran sports writer Gregg Bell as Director of Writing today. Bell, most recently a sports writer with the Associated Press, will handle a variety of writing duties both internal and external to the department of intercollegiate athletics. "I am excited and fortunate to have this special opportunity to tell the inside stories of the Huskies' outstanding athletic programs from a unique perspective," Bell said. "I have been blessed to have covered national and international athletes and teams for the last decade, yet I've come to learn that some of the most special and diverse talents in sports are right here at home among UW's student-athletes, coaches and staff." Bell's responsibilities will range from feature and profile writing to external messaging and communication, to department copy writing and editing. Bell will debut a weekly column, Gregg Bell Unleashed, next Wednesday on GoHuskies.com. Prior to joining the AP, Bell served as Senior Writer at the Sacramento Bee, primarily covering the Oakland Raiders. |
