Husky Ballpark
Washington, which had played at Graves Field since the 1960s, opened Husky Ballpark in 1998. Besides the many UW home games, hundreds of games involving youth, semi-pro and recreational teams are played at Husky Ballpark each summer.
Team Support Facilities
The athletics department has plans to build a two-story clubhouse for the team and two fan amenities buildings (approximate cost $5million). The clubhouse will include a first floor building off the first baseline that includes, a team locker room, equipment and medical training rooms, coaches and umpires locker facilities and video training area. The second floor will provide a dual use team classroom/players' lounge and donor gathering space with kitchen and a viewing deck. The deck will connect to a special external donor seating section.
Two stand-alone fan service amenities will be located at the complex's main entrance. The first building will be 1,000 square feet and contain ticketing, concessions and merchandise sales space. The second building will be 1,000 square feet and contain men's and women's full service restrooms.
Stadium and Press Box
Phase two of the renovation of the Husky Ballpark includes the baseball stadium and press box. The project includes the installation of a closed deck seating system with capacity for 3,200 spectators, the addition of a covered and enclosed press box and permanent home and visitor dugouts.
The Infield
The infield consists of state-of-the-art FieldTurf, installed prior to the 2005 season. With only the mound and the plate area still consisting of real dirt, the new FieldTurf allows the team to much more easily play through or around poor weather and gives the UW one of the truest infield surfaces you can find, cutting out bad hops and the like.
The Outfield
The outfield is a natural grass surface with a complete in-ground irrigation and state of the art drainage system. The grass is a mixture of bluegrass, rye and fescue, which will make the facility playable in any weather.
The Warning Track
The entire field is surrounded by a 12-foot wide synthetic warning track that is colored in Husky purple. This modern-style warning track, combined with the artificial turf infield, make this facility relatively maintainence free.
The Dugouts
Both dugouts are level with the playing surface and are eight feet deep and 65 feet long. The Huskies are located in the first base dugout and the visitors at third base.
The Bullpens
The home bullpen is located in foul territory on the right field side while the visitors pen is located behind the left field fence. Both bullpens are fenced off from fair territory, but have direct access to the field. The home bullpen has four mounds, mainly for practice use. With artificial turf and tarps, both areas will be available in most weather conditions.
