Lara Albright Reflects On First Quarter

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

Hey Dawg Fans!

My name is Lara Albright and I'm one of the two freshmen on the gymnastics team this year. I moved to campus in August and it's already December. The time flew by! I actually just finished all of my finals today which means I have officially completed my first quarter here at the University of Washington.

I was so excited when I moved to Seattle that I didn't really think about how much adjusting would take place. Looking back now, I can definitely see how I have changed in order to balance academics and gymnastics.

Throughout high school I was the kid who wouldn't have to study and still aced every test. I started studying more for my classes once I got to UW and my hard work has definitely paid off.

The biggest thing I have learned during my first quarter is time management. With college level classes, gymnastics practices, study hall hours, and meeting new friends, it is important to find the right balance. After the first few weeks, I got the hang of how everything worked. I figured out the times I was able to do other things I enjoyed and my days began to feel much less overwhelming.

I have enjoyed my first few months at the University of Washington and being part of the gymnastics team. Competition season is right around the corner and I can't wait to see you at our meets! J
