Q&A With Zach Portillos

Zach Portillos is a midfielder from Aurora, Colo. In his freshman campaign he has two goals and one assist in 17 games. He sat down with www.gohuskies.com for a Q&A.

 

Gohuskies.com: What is a pet peeve of yours?

Zach Portillos: "People chewing with their mouth open."

 

GH: What is your pre-game superstition?

ZP: "Tie my shoes twice before starting the game."

 

GH: What is the best present you have ever received?

ZP: "Getting my first bike."

 

GH: If you were trapped on a desert island with one teammate, who would you want to be stranded with and why? ZP: "Brent because I know I could be stuck with him alone."

 

GH: What's your favorite board game?

ZP: "Monopoly or Risk."

 

GH: Why should others become involved in the great sport of soccer?

ZP: "Because it's a good way to develop friendships and because it's one of the hardest physical sports so it will keep you healthy."

 

GH: If you could train with any professional athlete who would you chose and why?

ZP: "Lebron James so he could teach me how to be a baller."

 

GH: What is one of the most important things your parents did in your upbringing?

ZP: "They showed me how to be truthful, dependable and showed me the importance of God in my life."

 

GH: What don't people outside of your hometown know about where you grew up that you think they should know? ZP: "That Colorado is the best place ever to live."

 

GH: What do you know now about the game of soccer that you wish you would've known when you started playing the sport?

ZP: "How mentally tough you have to be at the highest level."

 

GH: What is one characteristic a person needs to be a champion?

ZP: "Love of the game."

 

GH: What do you want to leave as a legacy at UW?

ZP: "That the soccer guys are the coolest cats on the campus."
