Q&A With Kendyl Pele

Senior defender Kendyl Pele (Kennewick, Wash.) not only runs a stingy defense at center back, she is also a team captain. She sat down with www.gohuskies.com for a Q&A.

 

Gohuskies.com: What is a pet peeve of yours?

Kendyl Pele: "People who play with their gum. Gross."

 

GH: What is your pre-game superstition?

KP: "Kellye (Joswick) and I made up a handshake that we do before every game."

 

GH: What is the best present you have ever received?

KP: "A Barbie trailer for Christmas."

 

GH: If you were trapped on a desert island with one teammate, who would you want to be stranded with and why?

KP: "Sarah (Martinez) because I know she would never kill me for food."

 

GH: What's your favorite board game?

KP: "Old school marbles."

 

GH: Why should others become involved in the great sport of soccer?

KP: "Not only has soccer given me a second family, but after traveling with my team to Brazil I realized how soccer can connect people despite their different backgrounds...That's something pretty amazing."

 

GH: If you could train with any professional athlete who would you chose and why?

KP: "Landon Donovan. It's obvious."

 

GH: What is one of the most important things your parents did in your upbringing?

KP: "My parents were always supportive and believed in me."

 

GH: What don't people outside of your hometown know about where you grew up that you think they should know?

KP: "We actually do have a mall."

 

GH: What do you know now about the game of soccer that you wish you would've known when you started playing the sport?

KP: "Nothing. You learn as you go."

 

GH: What is one characteristic a person needs to be a champion?

KP: "Determination."

 

GH: What do you want to leave as a legacy at UW?

KP: "Is it too late to make the record books for goal scoring?"
