Q&A With Sarah Martinez

Junior forward Sarah Martinez (Des Moines, Wash.) has been a key player for the Huskies off of the bench. She has appeared in all seven games this season and fired seven shots. She sat down with www.gohuskies.com for a Q&A.

Gohuskies.com: What is a pet peeve of yours?
Sarah Martinez: "When the Starbucks people don't stir the bottom of my iced coffee. If you know me you know how upset this makes me! :)"

GH: What is your pre-game superstition?
SM: "About 30 minutes before our pregame meeting, I always sit outside the locker room by myself for about 10 minutes to clear my head."

GH:  What is the best present you have ever received?
SM: "My IPod adapter for my car and my collage I got last year. Love my teammates!"

GH: If you were trapped on a desert island with one teammate, who would you want to be stranded with and why?
SM: "Hannah because she can't reach the food so then there will be more for me!"

GH: What's your favorite board game?
SM: "Pictionary or Scrabble!"

GH: Why should others become involved in the great sport of soccer?
SM: "Soccer is so amazing for the reason that it's never the same. Each time you step on the field you have so much freedom, nothing can compare."

GH: If you could train with any professional athlete who would you chose and why?
SM: "Probably lance Armstrong just because he is known to work SO hard!"

GH: What is one of the most important things your parents did in your upbringing?
SM: "They let me play as many sports as I wanted and didn't pressure me to choose one."

GH: What don't people outside of your hometown know about where you grew up that you think they should know?
SM: "That it's not ghetto and I love it more than anywhere!"

GH: What do you know now about the game of soccer that you wish you would've known when you started playing the sport?
SM: "I wish I would have known the importance of foot skills starting when I was five."

GH: What is one characteristic a person needs to be a champion?
SM: "Heart and competitiveness."

GH: What do you want to leave as a legacy at UW?
SM: "Definitely hard work and dedication!"
