Pre-Camp Football Headlines

Early this morning, Coach Steve Sarkisian tweeted: "The journey begins today - players report, administrative meetings & goals will be set."

And so football season officially begins on Montlake. Don't forget, the Seahawks will also be holding a (free) practice at Husky Stadium today as well, beginning at 1:30 p.m.

As we prepare for players to start making their way to the meeting rooms, here are a few newsworthy stories from across the Puget Sound region.

2010 Preview
Do the Huskies have all the tools to make their first bowl game since the 2002 season? Bob Condotta from the Seattle Times thinks the pieces are in place in his position-by-position preview of the team. We all know about Jake Locker. How about the other pieces?

A returning 1,000-yard rusher? Check. A veteran offensive line? Check. A defense young but seemingly filled with potential? Check and check.

In the South Sound, the News-Tribune's Doug Pacey recalls several memories from Locker's senior year at Ferndale High School. Pacey was the prep sports beat writer in Bellingham when Locker led the Golden Eagles to an undefeated season (along with a state title) his senior season, winning by more than a 40-point margin each time out.
