Men's Pac-10 Poll Released

In a polling of the Conference's men's soccer head coaches, two-time defending Pac-10 Champion UCLA has been selected as the preseason favorite to win the Pac-10 in 2010. The Bruins, searching for their seventh title overall, received the maximum amount of points (25) with five first-place votes. STANFORD was picked to finish second and CALIFORNIA rounded out the top three in the coaches' poll.

UCLA is coming off an NCAA Tournament quarterfinal appearance and finished the 2009 season with a 12-4-4 record, including a 5-1-4 record in Pac-10 play. STANFORD garnered 20 points and one first-place vote to place second in the poll. The Cardinal enters the season after advancing to the third round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. Stanford was third in the Pac-10 last season with a 4-4-2 Conference record (12-6-2 overall).

The Golden Bears were tabbed third in the poll with 16 points after finishing sixth in the Pac-10 in 2009 with 3-6-1 record in Conference play and posting a 9-8-1 record overall. OREGON STATE and SAN DIEGO STATE tied for fourth with 10 points apiece, and WASHINGTON picked up nine points to come in sixth.

The 2010 Pac-10 men's soccer season kicks off on Wed., Sept. 1, when Oregon State, San Diego State and Stanford all take to the field.
