Fall Camp Links: Weekend
Jake Locker was a big focus of several feature stories this weekend in Puget Sound newspapers. A big takeaway from those articles was his growing appeal in the community, and the increased media opportunities afforded to him (such as two trips to ESPN, etc.)
The Everett Herald and beat writer Scott Johnson lead off with an analysis of Locker's summer. The quarterback, of course, takes it all in stride, but it's clear some of his teammates give him a hard time about the increased celebrity. "It's interesting watching the way people look at him," said Gregory Christine, a senior offensive lineman for the Huskies. "To me, he's just Jake. But to the fans, he's Jake Locker. It's definitely fun to watch. You sit back, and you're like, 'Jake, you're the man." The Tacoma News-Tribune published their second of a three-part series on Locker, this time detailing the refinement of his mechanics, which have improved since he played in a Wing-T offense at Ferndale High School. Part III of the series is expected to publish on Aug. 22.
