Tennis Recruit Manthou To Toss M's First Pitch

Husky tennis recruit Max Manthou will serve up a different kind of ball than the one he's used to this evening, as the four-time Washington state tennis champion will throw_MG_5900web.jpg out the first pitch before the Mariners take on the Kansas City Royals at Safeco Field.

Manthou, a Tacoma native, was undefeated in four years of play for Kentwood High School, and became the first student-athlete in state history to win four-consecutive 4A state singles titles. He also played for Kentwood's state champion boys basketball team this season.

Game time is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. so head in a little early to see if Manthou's pitching arm is as good as his forehand or jump shot.

---Update---

Here's a shot of Manthou on the mound on Wednesday. He threw to M's outfielder Ryan Langerhans and posed for a photo with him afterwards.
