ESPN Magazine Look At Jake Locker

If you have an ESPN Insider account, make sure to check out the profile of Jake Locker's draft status that was posted this morning.

One of the media guests at Locker's lunch last month was ESPN the Magazine's Chris Sprow, the author of the feature. It takes a look primarily at Locker's draft status in the NFL, which has been one of the topic du jour's ever since the senior decided to return to the University of Washington for his final year.

The key statistic for Locker, according to Sprow, is completion percentage. It's something Coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier have continued to harp on Locker since they arrived on campus. The magic number for Sarkisian is 60 percent, which is the same number Sprow said NFL evaluators want to see elite quarterbacks.

Nussmeier said the key to Locker improving that mark (58 percent last season) will be the development of his footwork. The other two keys Coach Nuss touched upon were "ball security" and staying in rhythm.

As you can see, the article discusses a lot of the minutia that goes into playing the position. Also included is a sidebar note from NFL draft guru Mel Kiper Jr., who touches upon the QBs in the Pac-10 Conference.
