Bracht Sets Course Record in First Round of Sahalee Championships
DuPONT, Wash. -- Husky junior-to-be Jens Bracht shot a course record 6-under 66 on Wednesday at the Home Course in DuPont and led after the first round of the Sahalee Players Championship.
Despite his blistering score, he couldn't shake Oklahoma State All-American Peter Uihlein, who equaled Bracht's 66 to grab a share of the lead. Golfers are currently on the course playing the second round of the 72 hole tournament.
Bracht, who began his round from the 10th tee, started his day with an eagle and added four birdies to make the turn at 6-under. He bogeyed No. 1, but answered with back-to-back birdies to go 7-under through 12 holes. He gave a stroke back on the next hole but closed his round with five-straight pars.
UW's Chris Williams was tied for eighth after the first round at -2. Charlie Hughes shot an even-par 72 in the first round, while recently graduated Darren Wallace and defending champion Nick Taylor are each 1-over par.
Richard Lee and UW alum Derek Berg each struggled and shot uncharacteristic 8-over 80 in the first round.
