Three Dawgs On CFL Rosters
While both the college and NFL seasons are still a long way from getting started, the Canadian Football League is less than a month from the start of its season as all eight CFL teams play their first games of the year on June 13.
Currently, there are three former UW players on CFL rosters. They are (click on name for CFL.ca bios): • Defensive end Kai Ellis will play for Warren Moon's old team, the Edmonton Eskimo. Ellis will be entering his ninth season in the CFL, having previously played for Calgary, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Montreal. This will be his second season with the Eskimos. • Linebacker Joe Lobendahn will play his third season for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Honolulu native notched 54 tackles for the Bombers last season. • Quarterback Cody Pickett is now with the Montreal Alouettes after three seasons on the Toronto Argonauts roster. The Huskies' all-time leader in passing yards (among many other records) played for the San Francisco 49ers out of the UW and has also spent time on the rosters of the Raiders, the Texans and the Rhein Fire of the now-defunct NFL Europe.
