Mackenzie 27th, Friberg 97th at LPGA Event in Mexico

Paige Mackenzie shot a 2-under 71 in the first round of the Tres Marias Championship in Morelia, Mexico on Thursday, while fellow Husky alum Louise Friberg was 4-over-par (77) for the day. Mackenzie is tied for 27th and Friberg is tied in 97th place.

Mackenzie had six birdies on the front nine to go along with two bogeys. On the back nine, she balance a bogey and a birdie until a double-bogey 7 on the par-5 18th hole. Friberg also found trouble on the No. 18 with a triple-bogey 8.

Mackenzie tees off at 7:30 a.m. on No. 10, while Friberg is a couple groups behind teeing off at 8:58 a.m.
