Huskies Complete 10th Spring PracticeThe University of Washington football team completed the 10th of 15 spring practice sessions today at the Dempsey Indoor facility. The weather was cloudy outside, but a little chilly and gusty winds coming off Lake Washington suggested the coaches move indoors. The team went thorough a spirited nearly two-hour workout. Early in the practice, during 7-on-7 drills, UW running backs Deontae Cooper, Jesse Callier, Johri Fogerson and Demetrius Bronson each ripped-off impressive runs both through the line and bounding outside for big gains. However, a few minutes later it appeared as though there might have been a little "discussion" on the defensive side of the ball as several big hits punctuated the latter part of the drills. The defense dominated several plays in a row with three tackles for loss and a near interception. One interesting play that caused a few nervous chuckles... Quinton Richardson picked-off a pass and returned it about 30 yards for a TD. As he passed through the corner of the end zone, he finished his run on the track and turned to return to the field turf. Just after Richardson turned, he and Alameda Ta'amu jumped in the air to chest bump. However, Ta'amu gave a little more effort than Richardson, the two players hit heads and Richardson went flying backward into a barrier that prevents fans from getting too close to the action. Richardson got up, shook his head a bit and wobbled back to the field for the next play with a smile on his face. The Huskies return to the practice field Thursday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 11 a.m. (note new time) in their penultimate week of practice.
