HuardDamon1.jpgThe Tacoma Athletic Commission will induct 34 individuals, including several Huskies, into the Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame during its annual Banquet of Champions on June 3.

It will also name the Huard family, a fixture in the history of Washington athletics, as the 2010 recipient of its First Family of Sports Award.  Parents Mike and Peggy Huard, along with sons Damon, Brock and Luke, will be honored as the fifth-ever recipients of the award.

Damon and Brock both played quarterback for the Huskies and in the National Football League.  Luke played collegiately at North Carolina, served as a graduate assistant working with quarterbacks at the UW and is now an assistant at Illinois State.

The inductions will take place at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall from 5:30 p.m to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $45; for more information contact Terry Zeigler at 253-572-9922 (ext. 128 after 5 p.m.) or tlz@dpcpa.com.

The First Family of Sports Award recognizes the contributions of parents, foster parents, or guardians who instill and help maintain athletes' successes.
