The Zone Ready For Game No. 2!
Last weekend, prior to the LSU game, the UW Athletic Department and ISP Sports presented the debut of The Zone - a much-talked-about new food, entertainment and beverage party that takes place before and after every game at the East Practice Field adjacent to Husky Stadium.
The inaugural event drew thousands of Husky (and LSU) fans and was undoubtedly a great addition to the UW gameday atmosphere.
After listening to feedback from fans who attended last week, a few enhancements have been made that will make The Zone an even more fun place to be this Saturday before the UW's game against Idaho!
"Operationally, last weekend we wanted to err on the side of caution," said UW's senior associate athletic director O.D. Vincent. "We all felt that it was vitally important that we do our very best to ensure The Zone would be safe, something people would enjoy and would provide a great experience for our fans. We learned a great deal from that first experience, made a few tweaks to the operation and we feel good that we are going down the right path to making The Zone the place to be before and after our home games."
Among the noticeable improvements are: Improved entrance and exit points; additional food and beverage ticket sales purchase points; an expanded menu and beverage selection; and a more open area for fans to enjoy the activities. An improved layout will also help ensure fans are able to better enjoy the 950 KJR pregame show with the Husky Honks. And, there will be east end zone access into and out of the stadium before and after the game (with a ticket, obviously).
The Zone will open at 9 a.m. this Saturday (12:30 p.m. kickoff) and will open for approximately two hours after the conclusion of the game.
