Huskies Hit The Court

MBK-DSC00317.JPGThe Washington men's basketball team reported to 'work' today at 7:30 for meetings and to take care of paper work so they can hit the court. After a morning session with the UW compliance staff, the guys broke for a bit and returned to campus around noon for some lunch.

They hit the weights and did some conditioning for a bit before all gathering on the court for the first time around 2:15. The team ran through some footwork drills and other basketball drills early in the session.

The players then ran a controlled full-court scrimmage that saw many stops in action for moments of coaching and other pointers.

trent_0808.jpgIt is hard to judge guys on the first day, so I won't really try, but from my standpoint, the guys looked solid for the first day of workouts. Quincy Pondexter looked very aggressive, taking the ball to the hole on freshman Clarence Trent as often he could. Trent held his own and looks like he could be a beast once he figures out the college game.

A couple standout from a shooting perspective were Elston Turner and C.J. Wilcox. Both showed great form and range from outside and could form a tough combination to defend on the perimeter.

Abdul Gaddy showed off his penetration skills, often getting into the lane and dropping dimes into the hands of open men.

Tyreese Breshers was out on the floor and was very aggressive on the offensive end and showed some adept passing skills. He is still getting his sea legs under him, but once he does it is easy to see he'll be able to contribute.
