LSU is leaving the field right now with 24:00 minutes on the clock!6:35 p.m.:

An hour before kickoff and some fans are already in the stadium. The parking lot is packed with fans and there is a line to get into The Zone.

On the field there are several players from both squads, mostly special teams players and quarterbacks. LSU's band just arrived and was greeted by their contigent warmly of course. Just a few more minutes before all players will be taking the field for warm ups!

In news outside of the game, former Husky safety Lawyer Milloy signed with the Seattle Seahawks toda!

5:25 p.m.:

Well, the parking lots and The Zone are starting to get jumping. Just two hours from kickoff!

About an hour ago I went through the locker room, down the Husky tunnel onto the field and cruised over to the zone. I got some pictures, including inside the locker room, the Curtis Williams memorial, shots of the field and pictures of the zone.

I have to say, The Zone is going to be a GREAT alternative for those who want to tailgate closer to the Stadium. There are some excellent choices for eating, KJR is stationed in there as is KUBE, playing some tunes. There are plenty of activities for kids and adults as there is a huge covered beer garden. Also, there are suites that are set up for groups.

3:14 p.m.:

I arrived at Husky Stadium around 2:30 and things are starting to pick up. Cruised around E-11 and E-12 with the iPhone and took several shots of the tailgating in the parking lot.

1:45 p.m.:
I got sick of just waiting around at home for the game to start, so I decided to head closer to the stadium. I stopped at my friends house in Lake City (I live in Bothell, so I am slowly getting closer) where my college friends meet up before heading to Husky Stadium to tailgate. Two from the group were out the door at 1:30 to start the set up for the tailgate. All the essentials are there (pictured at the right), including generator, tables, coolers, chairs, blankets and 32-inch flat screen TV! As you can see, they have their E-12 parking pass.

It is still too early for me to head to the Stadium, but I am going to be heading out there to hang out before heading to the Zone and up to the press box for work duties.

12:45 p.m.:
Just got finished watching Minnesota beat Syracuse, 23-20 in overtime in the college football debut of former Duke point guard Greg Paulus. Paulus, who hadn't played competitive football in four years did nothing to embarrass himself as the Orangemen's starting quarterback, until throwing a pick in overtime that cost them a chance to score.

The game got me thinking, which recent Husky basketball players would have made great football players? Jon Brockman comes to immediate mind, and of course Nate Robinson proved he could have been an impact player if he would have chosen a career on the football field over the hardcourt. But, who on the UW current team would have been able to play college football??? I'm guessing Tyreese Breshers, at 6-7 and 255 pounds could make an imposing tight end or defensive end. Venoy Overton and Isaiah Thomas as defensive backs or return specialists? Quincy Pondexter, Scott Suggs, Elston Turner as wide receivers? Clarence Trent at linebacker?

It's a fun exercise to think about...

By the way, the rains seems to be on its way.

11:00 a.m.:
If you're like the typical Husky Football fan, Friday night was a restless night of sleep. I equate the excitement to the night before Christmas when I was a child -- I'd run downstairs to see if Santa remembered me! As an adult now, I run downstairs to make sure College Gameday was really on TV. Sure enough it's here!

Perhaps the nicest present I woke up to -- besides the prediction by Lee Corso of a Husky win over the Tigers -- was the sunny skies above. All week we had to hear how today was going to be a fall-like weather day with rain, clouds and low temperatures. Currently it is 62 degrees and the predicted high is 64....sounds like something is awry!

Click here for the radar images of Washington today. You can see some showers on the outskirts of Seattle, but so far, the city has been relatively unscathed.

For those of you wondering, the average annual rainfall in Baton Rouge is 60 inches per year, while Seattle averages 36.2 inches....that is not a misprint!
