Women's Soccer Excels On and Off the Field
Women's soccer player Alex Kirk, who will be a senior this upcoming season, was selected to receive the UW Student-Athlete Academic Services Academic Achievement Award for spring quarter 2009. The award is based on Kirk's perseverance, resourcefulness and positive attitude toward academics.
Kirk is not the only women's soccer player having success in the classroom. The 2008 team - which also had one of the most successful seasons on the pitch in program history - had the highest cumulative team GPA for Spring 2009 quarter in head coach Lesle Gallimore's 15-year tenure with a 3.42 team GPA. Recent graduate Dana Stirn, who left UW with a cumulative 3.81 GPA, led the way with a 4.0 in spring quarter. Also excelling in the spring were freshmen Alex Webber (3.88), Faustine Dufka (3.77) and Kari Davidson (3.60) along with sophomores Carli Cearnal (3.70) and Makenna Brinster (3.67) and Kirk (3.67). Five players made the Dean's List while 22 of 29 players were above a 3.0. Congrats to Kirk and the women's soccer team! IMPORTANT LINKSMOST RECENT POSTS
