Watching the Watch Lists

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

LockerJake.jpgThis time of year, a number of the big college football postseason awards publish "watch lists." These lists are essentially a list of players that are "up" for those awards, at least at this stage in the calender. Keep in mind, of course, that players who end up excelling during the season could end up as semi-finalists, finalists or even winners, even if they aren't on the watch lists. But, it's a nice preseason accolade all the same.

Today, quarterback Jake Locker was named to the watch list for the Manning Award, an award for the top quarterback in the nation. It's the third such list that Locker has made, along with another top QB award, the Davey O'Brien Award, and the Maxwell Award, given to the nation's top overall player.

Two other Dawgs have made it on to preseason watch lists: senior defensive end Daniel Te'o-Nesheim is on the list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, for the nation's top defensive player, while junior wideout D'Andre Goodwin is on the list for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the top receiver in the country.
