Washington Football Faces Another Tough Schedule
The Associated Press released its preseason top-25 poll yesterday and, as expected, a few of Washington's upcoming opponents were included. The Huskies annually play one of the toughest schedules in the nation and 2009 will be no different. Five of the UW's 12 opponents appear in the AP preseason poll, including the team it will square-off against in its season-opener on Sept. 5 in Husky Stadium - the LSU Tigers. The 60 AP voters from across the country have determined that the Tigers are the 11th-best team in the nation, while Notre Dame, another of the UW's non-league opponents, is ranked 23rd. Among Pac-10 teams, USC is rated as fourth, California is ranked 12th and Oregon is considered 16th.
The Huskies have faced no fewer than four top-25 teams in each of the last four seasons. In 2007, the UW played six nationally-ranked teams and four that were rated among the top-10. Last season, Washington's first three opponents of the season were each ranked by the AP.
