Pondexter Participates In Opening Ceremonies

Opening ceremonies for the 2009 World University Games took place Wednesday in Belgrade, Serbia. Both the American women and men took part in the festivities, including Washington's own Quincy Pondexter.

The teams have had a few days off between exhibition games and the real games, which start for the Americans on Friday, July 3. The USA will take on Finland at 11 a.m. PT in its opening game.

The USA team will then face South Korea on the Fourth of July at 11 a.m. PT. Return here and we'll have a recap of how Pondexter did after each game.

She explained that Quincy was really proud of all the pins he collected from other athletes participating in the games. It is a tradition for players to exchange their countries' pins with others.
