Perez Helps U23 U.S. Team To Victory Over England
Washington senior-to-be Veronica Perez played 60 minutes in helping the U-23 United States National Team to a 3-1 win over England on Tuesday just outside London. Perez has been traveling with the national team for the past week, playing a pair of exhibition games against the England National Team. After the English got the best of the U.S. on Sunday, Perez helped the team bounce back to even the series.
"I started and played 60 minutes and it went really well," said Perez, who led the Huskies in goals, points and tied for the team lead in assists last season. "We had one mistake in the middle that was costly but other than that I think it went awesome."
This was Perez's first experience with a U.S. National Team after she spent time with the Mexican National Team earlier this summer. As a youth player she is still eligible to do both.
