Dawgs Enjoy Splash In Lake Washington

The NCAA national champion UW women's softball team (has a nice ring to it, eh?) returned campus today to a large crowd of loud and proud Dawg fans.  As the team exited the bus, the Husky band played Bow Down to Washington, fans cheered and waved pom-poms and the team proudly displayed the national championship trophy.

Afterwards, the team marched to the Conibear Shellhouse, pulled-off their shoes and jumped off the pier into the cold waters of Lake Washington - nearly taking a few members of the local media with them!

Check out this great Photo Gallery of the team's triumphant return to Montlake!

Also, check out these video interviews and highlights from the team's return. There is this Heather Tarr interview and then this interview with players, including Danielle Lawrie, Bailey Stenson, Kimi Pohlman and Marnie Koziol. Towards the end of the clip, there is video of the team heading to the water. As the team was about to jump in, the cameraman was swamped with water up to his waist and had to bail from his attempts to get video footage!

hey im just wondering does Danielle Lawrie have her own personal twitter or myspace

An amazing accomplishment of athleticism and strength under pressure. To play all prelims 3000 miles from home will go down in UW History as one of the Athletic Department's finest accomplishments. Danielle Lawrie, what class!

Great job. I was glued to the set. Hope to see a game in person next year. Danielle is the real deal. I have coached softball for years and have found that the stars often have a me first mentallity. Refreshing to watch her cheer and support her team. Is she doing any clinics in the SW Washington area? I would love to bring some kids to see her. Thanks
