SEATTLE - Incoming Husky freshman Crissy Jones prepped for the beginning of fall practices by hitting the beaches of Portugal, as the SoCal native represented the U.S. at the FIVB U19 World Championships this past week. Jones and her partner Zana Muno finished tied for fifth out of the 36-team field in Porto, Portugal.

In pool play, Jones and Muno lost their first match in heartbreaker, 17-15 in the third set, to a Russian pair, but then won three consecutive matches and advanced out of the group play with a 3-2 record.

Moving to single elimination play, Jones and Muno won their first round match in straight sets over a team from Belarus. In the second round they earned a 21-14, 21-9 win over the Lithuanian team of Vaiciukynaite-Andriukaityte to make the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, the U.S. duo lost another close three-setter, 21-17, 16-21, 15-12, to Canada's Megan and Nicole McNamara, to bring their run to a close. In eight matches over four days, Jones and Muno compiled a 5-3 overall record.
