SEATTLE – On Sat., Oct. 19 at four o’clock in Alaska Airlines Arena the University of Washington gymnastics team will host Meet the GymDawgs, an open-gym event with free admission to the public. There will also be snacks and drinks provided free of charge.
To kick off the festivities fans are encouraged to arrive early and come learn the team cheer from the GymDawgs themselves. The team will use the cheer at every meet in the upcoming season.
The event will then feature routine demonstrations from all 12 members of the 2014 squad accompanied by commentary from their own teammates. Local gymnastics fans will also have the opportunity to be a part of the action. Twenty young gymnasts will get the chance to act as judges for each event.
In addition to the demonstrations fans will not only get their official 2014 team poster but will be able to have it signed by the entire team.
There will also be a question and answer session to help the fans get to know the girls on the team, especially the six new freshmen who will be competing for the Huskies this season.
Fans in attendance will be eligible to win some exclusive prizes, too. T-Shirts, passes to attend practice or team dinner and an opportunity to sit on the floor during one of UW’s home meets highlight the prizes that will be given away at the event.
