Robert Sasaki oversees all departmental business and finance initiatives in his role as Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Chief Financial Officer. Sasaki’s areas of oversight include procurement, human resources, departmental budget management as well as strategic planning. In his role, Sasaki is tasked with departmental budgeting, strategic planning, financial management, financial analysis, cash flow management, and capital planning as well as leading the human resources unit.
Sasaki will manage budgets exceeding $76 million within the department of athletics, which receives no subsidy from the university. As a member of the executive staff, Sasaki is called upon to provide strategic advice and management consultation on departmental business issues and financial matters.
A native of Anchorage Alaska, Sasaki has spent 20 years in international business, including ten years living in Asia. Sasaki arrived at UW after spending nearly 10 years with Nike, Inc., where he was responsible for controlling and managing over $580 million of budgeted expenditures in Nike’s product engines and design functions. Sasaki earned a B.A. in Finance and International Business from the University of Oregon, and an International MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management. Sasaki and his wife, Noriko, have two children, Takashi and Makoto.
