SEATTLE -- Kevin McGuff has been announced as the women's basketball coach at Ohio State. He leaves Washington after two seasons and a 41-26 record.
"I wish Kevin the best at his new position at Ohio State," said Washington Director of Athletics Scott Woodward. "He did a tremendous job leading our women's basketball program and will be missed here at UW. Kevin is an outstanding coach, but we understand his decision to return to his home state. He is a true family man and we know this decision had a lot to do with his family."
"Kevin leaves the program in great shape and we will begin a nationwide search for his successor immediately."
McGuff signed a contract extension at Washington in March through the 2019-20 season. As part of the contract, the University of Washington will be owed a buyout of $1.75M.
In two seasons at Washington, McGuff led Washington to consecutive 20-win seasons and two trips to the WNIT. The consecutive 20-win seasons were the first back-to-back for Washington since 1993-94 and 1994-95.
