SEATTLE -- Washington and Alaska Airlines Arena will serve as a host site for the First and Second Rounds of 2014 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the NCAA announced Tuesday.

Washington was chosen as one of 16 sites for the First and Second Rounds. The games will take place between March 22-25, but times and exact days will be decided later.

The hosting school is allowed to play on their home court if they are selected to the NCAA Tournament.

Washington last hosted the First and Second Rounds in 2010 when Texas A&M, Gonzaga, North Carolina and Portland State came to Seattle. The Aggies and 'Zags advanced to the second round, while Gonzaga advanced to the Sweet 16. That Gonzaga team was eventually eliminated by Xavier with current Husky head coach Mike Neighbors on the staff of the Musketeers.

Washington has not advanced to the NCAA Tournament since 2003, but expectations are high for the 2013-14 season.

The four regional hosts chosen were Stanford, Notre Dame, Louisville and Nebraska.

The 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four will take place April 6 and 8 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
