SEATTLE - Washington puts its seven-game win streak on the line this weekend at Arizona State (7-6) in the first week of Pac-12 play. The Huskies, who were picked to finish 10th out of 11 teams in the Conference, enter the start of Pac-12 play with a 10-4-1 record and the third best winning percentage .700 in the Conference.
Their win streak is the longest by the Huskies since 11 in 2008. Washington has dominated both offensively and on the mound during their streak. The Huskies have batted .308 and outscored opponents 40-11 while the pitching staff boasts a 1.48 ERA and is holding opponents to a .208 batting average during the streak.
This weekend marks the final time Washington and Arizona State will face off at Packard Stadium. The teams will play Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. and will wrap up the series on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. Live video and live scoring links for all games can be found at GoHuskies.com.
UW-ASU SERIES HISTORY: The Sun Devils lead the series 32-16 all time. The two teams ended the regular season against each other last year in Seattle with the Huskies winning the series 2-1. In 2012, the Sun Devils swept the Huskies in a three-game series in Tempe. Washington is 4-8 against ASU in Lindsay Meggs' four seasons as head coach at Washington. The Huskies last win in Tempe was 9-4 on April 24, 2010. The Huskies have not won a series in Tempe since 2004 when they took two-of-three games.
ONE WEEK UNTIL HUSKY BALLPARK OPENS: The Huskies will open a new 2,400 seat ballpark on March 21 against Arizona. The new park features permanent seating for the first time, open main-level concourses with views of the field from every vantage and a secind floor concourse that houses a press box, radio and TV booths, club seating and an AD booth. In addition, there is a new video board, a full complement of restrooms and concessions, plus new field turf. Prior to the ballpark opening, UW will host Portland (Mar. 18) at Tacoma's Cheney Stadium.
