SEATTLE - The reigning AVCA National Player of the Year, junior Krista Vansant is known to have quite a fastball on the volleyball court. But tomorrow night she'll show what she can do from the rubber, as Vansant will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at the Seattle Mariners game against Kansas City at Safeco Field.
The game is scheduled for a 6:05 p.m. start with Vansant's first pitch expected to be approximately five minutes before that.
The native of Redlands, Calif. became the first Husky ever to win the AVCA National Player of the Year honor after leading the Huskies to the 2013 Pac-12 title and their first Final Four since 2006. She also took home the Honda Award, the second Husky to win it after Courtney Thompson in 2005. Vansant became UW's third Pac-12 Player of the Year under Head Coach Jim McLaughlin along with Sanja Tomasevic and Christal Morrison.
