OJAI, Califo. – The University of Washington women’s tennis teams will have five singles players and three doubles teams participate in the Pac-12 Championships, beginning Thursday.

Elianne Douglas-Miron and Julija Lukac will compete in the singles championship while Natali Coronel, Natalie Allen and Riko Shimizu will participate in the invitational singles bracket.

Douglas-Miron and Shimizu along with Natalie Coronel and Grace Ysidora will team up for the doubles championship and the pair of Natalie Allen and Julija Lukac will compete in the invitational doubles bracket.

Singles action gets underway Thursday morning as Coronel faces Maja Salibasic of Oregon at 8 a.m. Allen takes on Leighann Sahagun of Arizona State at 9:30 a.m. while Shimizu will face Arizona’s Shayne Austin. Shimizu faced Austin earlier in the year with the Wildcat winning 6-2, 7-5 in Seattle.

Each of the Husky players hopes to advance to a second-round match that will be played Thursday afternoon. The quarterfinals will take place Friday, followed by the semis on Saturday and the championship on Sunday.

In doubles, Douglas-Miron and Shimizu have a tough draw as they will face top-seeded Kristie Ahn and Carol Zhao out of Stanford at 9 a.m. on Friday morning. In the first meeting between the two pairs, Stanford claimed an 8-1 victory in California. Coronel and Ysidora take on UCLA’s Courtney Dolehide and Chanelle Van Nguyen at 10:15 a.m. on Friday.
