Huskies Fall at No. 4 Stanford, 7-0

STANFORD, Calif. – The University of Washington women’s tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to the fourth-ranked Stanford Cardinal Friday afternoon in California. The Dawgs moved to 10-5 on the season and 0-3 in Pac-12 play. They’ll now head to No. 16 California to face the Bears at Noon on Saturday, March 15.

The Cardinal took the doubles point with three straight victories, winning 8-1, 8-1, and 8-4 over Douglas-Miron/Shimizu, Lukac/Nemcevic and Chen/Ysidora, respectively.

The Dawgs had a tough go in singles play as all six of Stanford’s players were ranked in the top 40 nationally. No. 97 Elianne Douglas-Miron fell 6-0, 6-0 to No. 2 Kristie Ahn on court one while Grace Ysidora dropped her match on court two, 6-3, 6-1.

Julija Lukac, who was playing in just her second match since returning from an injury, lost 6-2, 6-2 to No. 29 Carol Zahn. Additionally, Andjela Nemcevic, Riko Shimizu and Angela Chen all fell to the Cardinal squad.

Up next, the Dawgs head to No. 16 California for a Noon match on Saturday, March 15.
