Huskies Head to California to face Stanford and Cal

SEATTLE - The No. 42 University of Washington women's tennis team hits the road for the first time since Jan. 25 as it heads to California to face No. 4 Stanford (March 14, 1:30 p.m.) and No. 16 California (March 15, Noon). The Dawgs are 10-4 on the season an 0-2 in Pac-12 play after falling at the Arizona schools last weekend. 

The Dawgs (10-2) are currently ranked No. 42 in the latest ITA Rankings (March 11) and are coming off of a tough opening weekend to Pac-12 play as they fell to No. 40 Arizona State and No. 56 Arizona. Elianne Douglas-Miron has continued her strong play at the number one spot as she as won three of her last four matches and most recently moved up to No. 97 in the latest singles rankings. Additionally her and Riko Shimizu have been strong in the number one doubles spot winning three-straight. 

ABOUT THE CARDINAL: Stanford climbed up to the number four spot in the latest national rankings and are undefeated on the year with an 8-0 record.The Cardinal’s entire singles lineup is ranked among the top-40: Kristie Ahn (2), Taylor Davidson (27), Carol Zhao (29), Caroline Doyle (34), Krista Hardebeck (39) and Ellen Tsay (40). Two doubles teams are also ranked: Ahn/Zhao (17) and Davidson/Tsay (27). 

ABOUT THE BEARS: California's match against Washington on Saturday will be it's Pac-12 home opener. The Bears won the teams' first meeting this season 4-0 at the ITA Kickoff Weekend (Jan. 25). Cal is led by junior Zsofi Susanyi who has a 17-7 record and is ranked No. 13 nationally. The Bears have three other players ranked in the top 40 in Denise Starr, Anett Schutting and Lynn Chi. Additionaly Cal has three doubles pairs ranked in the top 80. 

Following the trip to California, the Dawgs return to Seattle to face UCLA on Friday, March 21 (1:30 p.m.) and USC on Sunday, March 23 (Noon).
