SEATTLE - The University of Washington women's tennis team starts it's Pac-12 slate this weekend hosting Arizona State and Arizona. The Sun Devils are up first on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center followed by the Wildcats on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Dawgs (10-2) are currently ranked No. 28 in the latest ITA Rankings (March 4) and are coming off of back-to-back 4-3 victories over No. 61 TCU and Sacramento State last weekend. Elianne Douglas-Miron won both of her matches last weekend playing at the number one spot, including a win over No. 53 Stephanie Tan of TCU.
The Dawgs also saw solid play from Grace Ysidora who clinched Sunday's match against Sacramento State with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win in the number two spot and helpled UW claim the doubles point with an 8-7 (9-7) win with Natali Coronel.
ABOUT THE SUN DEVILS: Arizona State is currently ranked No. 40 in the latest rankings and are 10-2 on the season. Sophomore Stephanie Vlad comes in at No. 48 in singles play. Additionally, Vlad and her doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk are ranked No. 122. The Sun Devils will enter Friday's match on a four match win streak and will be on the road for the first time since Feb. 16.
ABOUT THE WILDCATS: Arizona heads into Sunday's match ranked No. 56 and are 9-1 on the season. The Wildcats are led by seniors Lacey Smyth and Kim Stubbe who are ranked No. 112 and No. 85 respectively. Smyth is 6-2 at the No. 1 spot while Stubbe is 8-1 on court two.
Following the conference opener, the Huskies hit the road for the first time since Jan. 25 as they head to Stanford (March 14, 1:30 p.m.) and California (March 15, 12 p.m.)
