SEATTLE – The University of Washington men’s tennis team concludes regular season play this weekend as it hosts No. 44 Oregon on Saturday, April 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bill Quillian Tennis Center. The Huskies are 10-12 on the season and are coming off of a 4-0 loss to No. 19 California in Berkeley.
UW is currently 1-5 in league action and will next head to the Pac-12 Championships in Ojai, Calif., (April 23-26). The Huskies will be honoring their lone senior Max Manthou on Saturday as he takes the UW courts for the last time. The two teams faced off earlier this year in a non-conference contest with Oregon coming out on top 4-1 in Eugene (Feb. 28).
Manthou and Gal Hakak lead the Dawgs with 10 singles wins apiece during the spring season while Emmett Egger has a 3-3 mark when playing at number one singles. The Dawgs are 61-54 in singles action this year and hold a 26-28 doubles mark overall. Egger and Jeff Hawke lead the doubles teams with an overall 8-7 record at number one doubles. Viktor Farkas has been holding down the number five spot with a 9-7 mark while Michael Chamerski is 5-4 at number six singles and has won three out of his last five.
ABOUT THE DUCKS: Oregon is currently 15-7 on the year with the same Pac-12 record that the Dawgs have at 1-5 with each team earning a win over Arizona in conference action. The Ducks come in at No. 44 in the latest ITA rankings and have been ranked as high as 24 this year. Oregon's doubles pair of Robin Cambier and Kevin Farin are ranked 64th nationally while Cambier also comes in at No. 79 in the singles poll.
