Huskies Host No. 42 Minnesota Gophers in Blackout Match Friday
SEATTLE – The University of Washington men’s tennis team returns home for the first time in almost a month as they host No. 42 Minnesota in a 5 p.m. dual match on Friday, March 7 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The Dawgs are 6-6 on the season and will now be back in Seattle for eight-straight matches.
The Huskies are coming off of a tough road trip against two ranked opponents in Eugene, Oregon which will make Friday’s match the third-straight against a ranked opponent. Friday will be the Dawgs’ annual blackout match where fans are encouraged to wear black to support their men’s tennis team.
The Gophers are 6-5 on the season and recently moved up to number 42 in the latest ITA rankings. They’re coming off two-straight wins including a 5-2 victory over No. 49 Wisconsin. Minnesota is led by the doubles pair of Jack Hamburg and Mathieu Froment who are ranked No. 22 nationally. The due has claimed eight-straight matches.
