URBANA, Ill. -- Washington senior Kyle McMorrow marched on at the NCAA Singles Tournament on Thursday, defeating Jonas Lutjen of Mississippi in three sets. McMorrow will now play in the Sweet 16 on Friday.

McMorrow fell behind early, dropping the first set, 6-2, but rallied particularly when the match was moved indoors due to rain. Midway through the second set, the match was suspended and McMorrow took advantage, closing out the second set, 6-4 and dominating the third set, 6-3.

The win was the 100th of McMorrow's career as he became just the fifth Husky to ever accomplish that feat. He also has guaranteed ITA All-America honors for the season and will be just the eighth Husky to earn that prestigious honor.

The NCAA Tournament run from McMorrow is the best for a Washington player since Alex Slovic made it all the way to the NCAA Semifinals in 2007. He is just the seventh Husky to make it as far as the Round of 16 in school history.

The Ojai, Calif., native improved to 25-6 on the season, including 23-4 in dual matches.

McMorrow's Round of 16 opponent will either be No. 8 seed Henrique Cunha of Duke or Jared Hiltzik of Illinois who player later on Thursday. Cunha is the ninth-ranked player nationally by the ITA, while Hiltzik is No. 32.
