Cheng-Tsung Pan's run at the 112th Western Amateur Championship ended Thursday when he lost 3 & 2 to Beau Hossler in the Sweet 16 at The Beverly Country Club.CHICAGO --
Pan finished tied for seventh in stroke play that ended Wednesday and drew Hossler, the 2014 Big 12 Freshman of the Year at Texas, in the first round of match play.
The Husky senior-to-be never led in the match, but was tied through 10 holes before Hossler went on a scoring run. Pan bogeyed No. 11 and double-bogeyed No. 12 to give Hossler a two-hole advantage. Hossler birdied 13 to go up three holes and closed out the match by squaring the final two holes.
Pan has twice won medalist honors at the Western Amateur in 2009 and 2010.
